To find out the weather in Slovenia reliably, use the official Slovenian weather website. You’ll find weather forecasts for every town in Slovenia.
This is the site that all my Slovenian friends use.
Don’t use Google weather, which appears at the top of searches, because it’s not very accurate. It also often gives the wrong impression that it’s going to rain all day or even all week, whereas very often this won’t be the case at all in Slovenia. It’s usually showers or thunderstorms at the end of the day.

How to read the Slovenian weather website?
The Slovenian weather website is… in Slovenian. So here’s a little glossary to help you understand and navigate it easily.
To check the weather for a town : Type the name of the town in the search tab at the top right (see image above).
The blue tabs correspond to the days of the week. You only need to know two Slovenian words.
- Danes: today
- Jutri: tomorrow
Then, in the tabs, you’ll find the next days of the week.
These Slovenian 5- and 10-day weather forecasts are reliable, but the country is mountainous. The weather will therefore often be changeable in the vicinity of mountainous areas.
Be careful when hiking: the weather can deteriorate during the day. All my Slovenian friends go hiking early in the morning. Do the same and check the weather forecast before embarking on beautiful hikes like Visevnik or Veliki vrh.
In the mountains, you’ll sometimes be lucky enough to be above a sea of clouds, but other times you’ll be in the clouds (always set off well equipped and if possible very early in the morning, as all Slovenian hikers do).
Good to know: Expect a bit of rain during your holiday – it’s all part of being in Slovenia, but you’ll see how well we cope. It’s also what makes the pats so green and beautiful.
