In eastern Slovenia, you’ll find plenty of thermal baths, and if you’re coming in winter or autumn, I’d recommend relaxing in the warm waters of Slovenia’s spas.
One of the best spas in Slovenia is the Roman Baths (rimske terme), a superb spa!
The water in these thermal baths comes from two springs with ideal temperatures of 38.4° and 36.4°. The Romans exploited these thermal waters, but it was only in 1840 that these thermal baths were built for the well-being of the Austro-Hungarian nobility. Recently renovated, you can sleep, relax and eat here.
The Slovenian thermal baths, an excellent destination in autumn and winter!
The interior of the Rimske toplice spa is splendid, with its emerald pool. There are also saunas, hammams and relaxation areas heated to 37°C. Outside, you can swim in pools set high above the ground and enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding hills.
I strongly recommend that you spend one or two nights in the hotel.
You’ll feel right at home and discover a beautiful, authentic region around the thermal baths. You can hike to the superb view from Kopitnik (914 m – 1h35 walk).
Two good establishments in the area: the Guliver restaurant and the Meringa patisserie .
Where are the Roman baths?

A good idea for a hike starting from the thermal baths
As well as its thermal baths, Rimske Toplice also offers some magnificent hiking trails. The thermal baths are even more pleasant and relaxing when you’ve made an effort just before going there. Here’s a great itinerary where you go by train and come back on foot. From the Rimske Toplice thermal baths, go to the station, which is just 1 km away, take the train one stop to Zidani most and walk back. It’s a great way to discover the Slovenian countryside. This area is authentic.
